Genesis of Titan’s Rias from the Ligeia Mare Puget Sinus Region

The main purpose of this research is to understand the geomorphic processes responsible for the genesis of rias (large estuaries) on Titan’s Ligeia Mare Sea using Earth analogs. At the present time the genesis of these coastal landforms on Titan’s large polar methane seas is still poorly understood and the usage of Earth analogs allows comparisons to be made between Titan and the Earth and the development of a model that tentatively can explain the origin of these features. Understanding the genesis of coastal landforms on Titan is important because it provides critical information on how coastal geomorphic processes operate throughout the Solar System.
